Mechanical Department
Heat Transfer & Refrigeration Laboratory
Study of heat transfer through conduction, convection, and radiation using various thermal systems and heat exchangers.
Lab Overview
The Heat Transfer & Refrigeration Laboratory is a well-equipped facility that provides students with hands-on experience in conduction, convection, radiation, heat exchangers, and refrigeration systems. The laboratory includes a comprehensive range of experimental setups such as thermal conductivity, emissivity, critical heat flux, parallel and counter-flow heat exchangers, Stefan–Boltzmann, concentric sphere, pin-fin, composite slab, lagged pipe, natural and forced convection apparatus.
The laboratory also provides practical exposure to water cooler testing and domestic refrigeration systems, enabling students to understand thermal performance, heat transfer characteristics, and refrigeration principles through experimentation and analysis. It helps students develop practical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in thermal engineering applications.
