Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machines Laboratory

Hands-on study of fluid properties, flow behaviour, and the performance of pumps and hydraulic turbines.

Lab Overview

The Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machines Laboratory is a well-equipped and professionally organized laboratory that provides a strong platform for experiential learning in fluid mechanics and hydraulic machinery. The laboratory is supported by a comprehensive range of high-quality experimental setups and measurement instruments for conducting practical studies on fluid flow, pumps, hydraulic turbines, and flow measurement.

The laboratory features facilities such as Pelton Wheel and Francis Turbines, Multi-Stage and Single-Stage Centrifugal Pumps, Reciprocating Pump, Venturimeter/Orificemeter, Friction Factor Apparatus, Impact of Jet on Vanes, Sudden Contraction Apparatus, Turbine Flow Meter, Stopwatches, and Tachometers. These facilities enable students to perform experiments involving flow measurement, pressure and head losses, frictional effects, jet impact, pump performance, and turbine characteristics.

The laboratory emphasizes hands-on experimentation, accurate measurement, experimental data analysis, and performance evaluation. It provides students with practical exposure to the operation and working principles of hydraulic machines and helps them develop technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills required for engineering applications in fluid handling, pumping systems, and hydraulic power generation.
